Mission Statement of the holy name of mary faith formation program
We at the Holy Name of Mary Faith Formtion Program look upon religious education/Faith Formation as a total parish experience involving not just the child, but also parents, families, catechists, and priests that form our parish community of faith. We believe that religious education is getting to know Jesus and learning what is expected of one who chooses to follow Him in the catholic tradition. Our program reflects an integrated learning experience, composed of learning, catechesis, prayer, sacramental preparation, traditional catholic doctrine, biblical studies, liturgy, community building, and other dimensions of vibrant church life. Through the light of the faith, we hope to develop in those entrusted to our care a deeper relationship with God.
Classes, for first grade through eighth grade run from mid-September through mid-May. Classes are offered on Sundays and Wednesdays by a loving group of dedicated volunteers. We welcome all children, including those with special needs.
Sacramental preparation is done in accordance with the norms of the Archdiocese of New York; Children must be enrolled in the Parish’s Faith Formation Program and are expected to attend grades 1 – 8. Children requiring the sacraments of First Communion generally prepare during first through Second grades. Young people requiring the sacrament of Confirmation generally prepare during eighth and ninth grades. For older children wishing to receive these sacraments, there is a Special Sacraments class available through our RCIA program.
Classes are offered on Sunday morning and Wednesday night.
