Prior to the pandemic we had reluctantly decided to make changes to our permanent Mass schedule, recognizing the need to offer a reasonable number of well-attended Masses, in what will now be a parish with only one dedicated, full-time priest. When we do return to a normal Mass schedule if after Monday April 13th, the daily 8:00 AM Mass will be dropped from the schedule, and the Sunday, 11 AM Spanish Mass will also be eliminated. Individual intentions already booked will be combined with the nearest possible continuing Masses.
Walking With Purpose is creating a FREE brief weekly study for all Catholics (that's men AND women) that coincides with Sunday Mass. It's called Defining Moments and it's meant to help prepare and be "present" for Sunday Mass during this time when we cannot be at Church and are connecting to watch Mass online. Each lesson is divided up into 5 days giving just enough material per day to hit reset and to focus on God. Click for more info and pdf of first study
We are postponing the "Brian Bag" assembly event that was scheduled for this Sunday, March 15th. Luckily, all of the items in the bags have a long shelf life, so we will be able to wait a few months until the COVID-19 pandemic dies down. We will announce the new date as soon as we have one. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the many, many parishioners and ministries who have donated to this project. We have acquired enough goods and gift cards to create 300 bags!!! This truly has been a parish-wide effort and it has been a beautiful thing to witness. I can't wait until we can come together and assemble the bags as a healthy community!!
The Health, Safety and Security Committee of the HNM Pastoral Council is updating policies and procedures for emergencies in the church, gymnasium, chapel, parish center building and parish house (rectory). If you have special skills, training and experience in coping with medical emergencies (doctors, nurses, medical technicians), fire emergencies (firemen and women), or security breaches (police officers, military personnel), we invite you to join the HNM Immediate Responders. If you are willing to use your skills during emergencies at HNM, and could attend occasional training or refresher sessions, please call or text Tom Faranda (914) 924-2061, or email Maureen Poh Fitzpatrick (mbp9@columbia.edu), and tell us that you would step up and serve the HNM community in those potentially life-saving minutes before Croton Police, Fire or Emergency Medical Services can arrive and take over. Training sessions are anticipated later this year.
